Subject: LOCAL TRADITION
Dear Maria,
I’m sorry it took me so long to answer your mail. It’s
ages since we haven’t seen each other! I miss you so much! How are you? Is your
mother better? I’m really busy these days at work but in Barcelona it’s time of
“CALÇOTADES”. WOW!. Calçots are a kind
of large white onion that are
scorched/burnt in a bonfire. Then, you peel (?) and dip them in a sauce called “romescu”.
Romescu is very tasty! There are many people in a “Calçotada”
and they usually get drunk with both ratafia and moscatell J You should
come! I’m sure you would like it. There is a Calçotada in Sagrada Família on
the 7th of March, 12euros.
See you soon!! Hugs
and kisses

SUBJECT: The chestnut party!
Dear Mario,
How are you? What do you do in England? Is it really
cold here? In Barcelona is really hot!! It seems impossible because in Autum it
uses to rain, but we wear summer clothes. Are you celebrating Halloween?
Here we celebrate both Halloween and “La Castanyada”.
In la Castanyada we also celebrate the death day. We eat scorched chestnuts, “panellets”
and sweet potatoes! Yummy! We eat, sing and dance altoghether.
I hope you were here!
Kisses!!
